    Standard Help! MCU Update

This is my situation. I connected a backup camera and when I go to reverse nav unit does not switch to CCD. I noticed when I run the update tool it says CCD lines disabled. How can I change this to enabled?[Only members can see the link][Only members can see the link]

    Cool

Have you connected the "Reverse" wire of the radio to the reverse light switch, so that it gets +12V power when you are in reverse gear? If not, the unit will not go in the backup camera mode. If your car is a modern CANbus model, that signal should come from the bus - but only if your radio supports the CANbus as well. What RR model and car do you have?

The "CCD lines" setting is most likely a setting for hard-coded "guiding" lines in the reverse camera view and I have a strong feeling that in only certain radio models this setting is enabled. In some (most new?) cars the steering wheel has a pulse encoder that can give the steering wheel turning angle to the radio via CANbus, and the lines then can twist to left or right to guide you in an optimal way. In older cars (like my Subaru) there's no digital steering wheel or CANbus. The CCD lines are disabled also in my C6205N universal radio, although I'd like to see what it would look like if the lines could be enabled by hacking the MCU software somehow.

Info bit: Most cheap Chinese back-up cameras have some kind of generic guiding lines turned on in the camera hardware and they are embedded in the camera image. If these lines interfere with the radio's own guidance lines, they can be disabled by a skilled and fearless electronics hobbyist by disconnecting inside the camera the serial EEPROM chip that has the guidance line graphics. A very skilled person can even edit the guidance lines with some electronics hacking tools if they don't look good. I'm going to try one day...

By the way, your radio shows as "NULL" in the MCU update tool. This means that you don't have a recognizable FM receiver chip in your radio, or then you must be using an incorrect version of the MCU Update Tool. Try with some other tool versions that Strados has kindly supplied to the Forum. But most likely you can't set the CCD lines to "on" with any tool anyway. If you can, please tell us about it later!

I honestly think I updated the wrong MCU software to my unit. Most everything still works but the CCD and Temp is not showing correctly. I have tried getting the most recent MCU software from the dealer I purchased my unit from but no luck. Oh When I connect the backup camera to the TV line on the back of my unit it works. I do have the camera connected to the correct blue (camera cable). Its just confusing why when I hit reverse my unit doesnt switch to CCD. Yes I do have the camera connected to the backup light to send the signal to my unit.

The +12V wire which is used to power the camera, must also be connected to wire "REVERSE" of the unit. Only this signal forces the unit to switch the display to screen CCD.

I wonder if it has to do with my backup camera not support CMOS? Ill get more info about my unit and post here.

Alright so I replaced my backup camera with a CMOS version and still no go. It seems that my unit is not receiving information to change to CCD. I have tested several ways with the back up light, fuse, and installed a switch and still no go. I also have a different version of update tool. Here is the information on my unit. Once more: The unit does'nt switch into reverse screen by receiving a video signal on CCD input !
To do that, it needs switched +12V power from back up light to wire REVERSE.

Yes I know this and I have done that. I have tested both the wire that is labeled Reverse and 12+CCD to the positive of the reverse light. My unit just does not switch over to CCD. That is why I am looking for a fix for this, I am sure that when I updated the MCU update it was an incorrect version that ruined my unit. Though everything works except the backup camera.

The reverse camera input is a standard CVBS (Composite Video Burst Sync) Composite Videosignal (different name: TV camera)
Can be any kind of camera type with standard CVBS signal with PAL or NTSC.

    Anyone have any solution?
    - Download this tool
[Only members can see the link]

    - setup the gps path to "MCUUpdate_v2.3.exe" and then push NAVI key.
    - checkup the value of key "TV". -> Try to set it to "DVB-T".
    - update MCU to "D7041CQ_EN_V3.11.s19" (see Post # 3 of this thread:
